BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD – Call for Nominations
All NOMINATIONS must be received by the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce by Friday, December 16, 2016.
About the OBAA “BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD” – Small, Medium, Large
Lincoln’s most prestigious annual business awards. Adapted from the Chamber’s original Outstanding Business Achievement Awards (2003-2014), the “Business of the Year Award” acknowledges and celebrates high achievement in Lincoln’s business community.
All profit-centered business organizations, operating in the Town of Lincoln, are eligible for nomination. All nominees must have been in business for a minimum of three years. OBAA recipients from the last two years do not qualify unless they are eligible under a different category. It is not required that a nominee be a member of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. You can nominate your own business.
There are THREE “Business of the Year Award” CATEGORIES:
- SMALL – Businesses with 1-10 FTE* Employees
- MEDIUM – Businesses with 11-30 FTE* Employees
- LARGE – Businesses with 31+ FTE* Employees
*FTE (Full-Time Equivalent) refers to the number of paid staff, whether full-time, part-time, fixed-term contract, salaried or hourly, working between 35 and 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
SELECTION CRITERIA & PROCESS
Nominated businesses are judged on the following criteria –
- Business Leadership & Achievement
- Innovation in Service, Product &/or Technology
- Management/Employee Relations
- Employee Training & Development
- Contribution to Employee Base in Town of Lincoln & Niagara Region
- Environmental Stewardship
- Commitment to Community Development
A panel of impartial judges, as appointed by the Outstanding Business Achievement Awards (OBAA) Committee, will select TWO FINALISTS and subsequently, ONE RECIPIENT, for EACH “Business of the Year Award” CATEGORY, in accordance with procedures established by the OBAA Committee.
It is anticipated that this award will be presented annually for each category. If, in any year, the judges’ panel is unable to recommend a recipient in one or more categories, the award will not be presented.
All “Business of the Year Award” finalists will be honoured, and the recipient in each category announced, at the Chamber’s 15th annual OBAA GALA DINNER at Inn On The Twenty in Jordan Village on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
Each award recipient receives FREE MEMBERSHIP for ONE YEAR in the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce. Each award recipient and finalist receives an award plaque for display along with a 2-3 minute video showcasing its business.
Designed to publically recognize Lincoln’s businesses that exemplify excellence, to be selected as a finalist is in itself a great accomplishment.
